INTRO

Three Salmons Hotel, located in the heart of Usk, Monmouthshire, is a renowned 300-year-old hotel and restaurant.
Steeped in heritage, it offers traditional hospitality with a modern touch, serving guests from across Wales and beyond.

The hotel’s welcoming atmosphere, fine dining, and timeless character have made it a cornerstone of the local community.
However, to meet modern guest expectations, the team wanted to refresh the reception area. The aim was to create a warm, functional space that could serve both residents and visitors throughout the day.

When Three Salmons Hotel approached Nebrak, they needed a bespoke reception counter that would double as a small coffee-and-cake servery. A blend of traditional design with modern usability.

the challengE

The project’s main challenge was combining style and practicality in a heritage environment. The new design needed to integrate a reception desk, coffee service area, and display counter, all within a compact footprint.

It also needed to retain the hotel’s traditional colour scheme and character while offering modern functionality. Finally, the space had to work efficiently throughout the day, transitioning smoothly between guest check-ins, casual coffee service, and evening operations.

The Solution

Nebrak designed and built a fully bespoke reception and coffee bar that balances heritage with innovation.
Every element was created to suit the hotel’s architecture, using rich materials that complement the traditional interior.

The new design included:

• A reception counter with an angled section facing the entrance for clear visibility.
• Walnut-effect panelling paired with a solid surface Corinth Mizar worktop.
• A high section concealing the receptionist’s screen for a clean, professional appearance.
• Dedicated coffee counters with space for client-owned equipment, including a till, fridge, and water tap.
• A bowl-and-half stainless-steel sink with bespoke shelving positioned behind.
• A separate 1.5m counter for the coffee machine, featuring a mix of cupboard storage and open shelving.
• Service holes integrated through worktops to manage power and plumbing neatly.

This intelligent layout ensured staff could move efficiently while maintaining a polished, inviting front-of-house presence.
It also allowed the area to operate seamlessly from early morning to late evening.

The build

Nebrak managed the full process — from design and manufacture to delivery and installation.
All joinery was crafted in-house using Egger H3154 ST36 Dark Brown Charlston Oak, complemented by Corinth Mizar solid surface worktops at 38mm thickness.

The fit-out also included a fully moulded 1.5 sink, small drainer grooves, and waste baskets integrated into the counter design.
A Polar G-Series Countertop Food Display Fridge (160L) was installed to showcase fresh cakes and pastries attractively.
Additionally, a Zip HydroTap Classic Plus was incorporated for quick, efficient beverage preparation.

These materials were selected from Egger’s Decorative Collection 24+, known for its sustainable sourcing and outstanding durability.
LED lighting and subtle finishing touches tied the scheme together, creating a sophisticated space that feels both classic and contemporary.

The finished Three Salmons Hotel reception and coffee bar combines craftsmanship, heritage, and practicality. The result is a timeless reception area that celebrates the Three Salmons’ heritage while supporting its future. An elegant, efficient space built to welcome guests for generations to come.
