Warrens Bakery x Nebrak

See how Warrens Bakery refitted one of their concessions to offer a cafeteria style offering.

InTRO

Born on the cobbled streets of St. Just in 1860, Warrens Bakery has been handcrafting Cornish classics for over 160 years. What began as two families sharing a love of baking has grown into the world’s oldest Cornish pasty producer, with more than 40 bakeries across the West Country and South Wales.

Still using secret family recipes and premium ingredients, Warrens’ hand-crimped pasties, cakes, and scones remain true Cornish icons — traditional yet timeless.

When Warrens Bakery approached Nebrak, they wanted a fresh new look for their Derriford Hospital outlet. The brief? Modernise the counters and seating, align with updated branding, showcase fresh cakes, and improve traffic flow — all while keeping that unmistakable Warrens warmth.

the challenge

The Derriford Hospital café was busy, too busy for its setup. Limited counter space, restricted service, and seating were tight.
Staff struggled to keep pace with demand, while customers lacked a comfortable spot to sit and recharge.

The brief was clear:

  • Increase counter area to add a fourth till and speed up service.
  • Extend seating into the hospital corridor to maximise capacity.
  • Modernise the entire look to match Warrens’ refreshed brand identity.

The solution

Nebrak designed a fully bespoke cafeteria fit-out that balanced flow, function, and brand flair.
At its heart: a large island unit. A showstopping centrepiece that displayed fresh pastries and cakes while naturally guiding traffic through the space.

To handle 24/7 hospital demand, we integrated a micromarket layout with intuitive, self-service zones.
A smart payment area kept queues moving, allowing staff and visitors to grab food or coffee with ease, even during shift changes.

The fit-out included:

  • Two refrigerated merchandisers for chilled food and drinks
  • Four-tier shelving for ambient snacks and grab-and-go items
  • Two industrial microwaves
  • Two Coffetek Vitro X3 bean-to-cup coffee machines
  • A contactless payment station
  • Extended corridor seating for comfort and visibility

The build

Nebrak crafted the counters and cabinetry and worktops in a sleek, warm pairing that blended durability and design. LED lighting elevated the display and cut energy use. Custom branding tied everything together, giving the space a cohesive, confident look. All modules were pre-built, delivered, and installed to meet the hospital’s tight schedule with zero disruption.
